MatriX Flex Laminate

Crosscut & Radial Laminates

The most affordable solution for the club race or performance cruiser

UK Sails NW cross cut laminate sails are made with Dimension Polyant’s FLEX materials. This durable multi axis laminate cloth is very well suited to high aspect sails such as mainsails and jibs on performance boats. It is available in a number of weights and fiber options. Due to the fact that almost all the panels are full width and the sails are cross cut this helps reduce waste and labor in assembling the sail, helping keep FLEX sails as an affordable entry level laminate. These sails lack the load bearing tapes or yarns of Tape Drive or Titanium sails therefore they are normally 10-15% heavier because the entire sail must be built from material strong enough to carry the loads in the most loaded areas. FLEX sails are still lighter than Dacron though, and will hold their shape better than their Dacron counterparts also   Also this cloth is available in double taffeta and film version for race or cruise applications.

UK Sails NW offers a variety of options for Radial sails but normally cost ends up meaning Tape Drive is a better product for less money. There are specific cases though where Radial construction is the best option. If you want to more know about UK Sails NW radial options get in touch with either our Sidney or Anacortes loft.
